Enterprise at Millthorpe School!

As a Business & Enterprise specialist school, Burnholme Community College demonstrated their expert knowledge as they delivered a one day enterprise activity to the Year 10 students at Millthorpe on Tuesday 20 January 2009.

The Stock Market Challenge activity has proved to be a successful tool in delivering enterprise capability to students within Burnholme and to other secondary schools.  All students involved with the activity have the opportunity to develop their ‘can do’ approach; improve their teamwork, communication, basic calculations while focusing upon risk taking decisions.

The success of the event was not an accident.  The planning and preparation was perfectly executed and delivered through the hardworking team of Mr Scott, Mr Charlton (ICT/Business teachers), Kerryn Dutton, Jessica Dawson, Jasmine Green, Emily Simpson, James Turnbull & Rachel Whiteley (all Year 10 students).

Miss Frankland (Head of Technology/Enterprise Co-ordinator at Millthorpe School) said “this is the second time we have run this activity.  The students love the work they have to do as it helps them develop so many skills in an action packed day, while developing their understanding of how the stock market works.  We invited Burnholme to run the activity as they are experts in the B&E field; it makes sense for the only B&E specialist school in the city to deliver a truly worthwhile and exciting event”.
