Burnholme goes to Berlin!
Date Posted: Friday the 10th of June

60 students ranging from year 8 to year 10 took part in the very successful trip to Berlin during May half-term. All students were a credit to Burnholme and showed the German people how fantastic English school children can be!

Students enjoyed a visit to Berlin Zoo with its diverse population from Orang-utans to Polar Bears, Tigers to Penguins and Goats to Buffalo. The same day they visited the Topography of Terror and experienced the far-reaching influence of the Nazis at their height. A visit to the Holocaust memorial gave students time to reflect on the impact of the Holocaust. The last stop of the day was Alexanderplatz and the Fernsehturm, where the girls showed their appreciation for Berlin on their t-shirts!

The second day of the trip was the visit to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, The Brandenburg Gate, The Reichstag and the Berlin Cathedral. The evening was spent on Berlin’s largest man-made beach Oststrand.

Overall the trip was a huge success and I look forward to taking more students across Europe!
