Teaching Methods

A variety of teaching methods are used by the staff at Burnholme College to ensure History remains a dynamic and interesting subject throughout both Key Stage 3 and 4. The nature of the method will depend on the individual teacher, the topic being taught and the composition of the group.

Methods used include:

Traditional imparting of knowledge, Collaborative group work, Problem solving, Int. White Board, Video, Individual research, ICT

Reporting

Reports are sent home to parents each year. They give a detailed outline on the subject coverage throughout the year and comment on the student's attainment and effort in the subject. Reports should include a target for further development – preferably linked to the Assessment for Learning cycle.
