Citizenship / PSHE

Citizenship is a statutory subject at KS3 and KS4 and is treated exactly tha same as other foundation subjects in the National Curriculum.
Learning Skills, Personal Skills, and Thinking Skills are assessed according to end of Key Stage descriptors and are reported to parents via the tutor report at the end of the year.
There is presently no formal qualification.
The department encourages the use of:
- Topical and media issues to ensure engagement
- Community based activities with local partners eg NYBEP
- Outside visitors including the police and nurses
- School - based activities including student council, mock elections, charity work.
- Student/parent participation in policymaking
- Student / parent participation in curriculum planning.
We vary the delivery of our subject through the use of:
- Drama
- ICT
- Groupwork
- Outside visitors
- Designing and making
